Ras de Cymru

Four Lincolnshire riders took part in the Ras de Cymru 5 day, 6 stage road race in South Wales. Adam Ellis, Tom Neale Mark Botteley and 1st year Junior rider Peter Cocker made up the four man squad supported by Gary Bentely and David Neale. The highlight of the race was Peter Cockers amazing ride on stage 6 when he rode away from the group to gain points in the King of the Mountain competition which Peter finished 2nd in behind another Lincolnshire rider Tim Allen riding for Clay Cross Racing Team.

Neil Takes Club Records

In only two years Spalding CC Rider Neil Palmer went from a 33 min, 10 mile Time Trial, to completing a 20.42 and beating a long-standing club record. Neil Approached Velo Race Performance in September 2011 and started his base training over the winter period. It was soon clear that Neil was making some real gains.

Time Trial Coaching

Veteran Rider Sarah Bentley started a training plan to help her improve her Time Trial Results. Sarah managed to take 9 minuets off her 25mile Time Trial PB on the same course. We looked at all aspects of Sarah’s riding. She carried out a Max Power / Max Heart Rate test at the start of the year to establish a base to work from. We then benchmarked Sarah’s key events and established a plan working towards her goals. During the winter and spring we carried out monthly performance tests on the static trainer. We also looked at the tactical and technical aspects of Sarah’s events. The weekly prescribed training gave Sarah focus and clear direction as the season went on.

A testimony from Sarah to follow soon….
